Ann Hunt Nails 1805 - Cross Stitch Antiques is a faithful reproduction of a rare English Quaker medallion sampler. Originally stitched by Ann Hunt in Nailsea, Somerset in 1805, this elegant monochrome sampler features bold circular medallions, alphabet bands, and historical inscription details stitched in delicate over-one lettering.

The model is stitched on 46 count Maritime White by Lakeside Linens using Soie d’Alger and 100/3 silk, with conversions provided for DMC, NPI, and Belle Soie. The reproduction measures 322 stitches wide by 239 high, resulting in a finished size of approximately 14" x 10.39" on 46 count linen. The original sampler was stitched on finer 52/46 count linen and measures 11 ¾" x 10 ¼".

The sampler uses primarily cross stitch over two threads, with over-one stitching for the name, place, and date, and Algerian eyelet stitches in the lower alphabet.

Though no Quaker school is known to have existed in Nailsea, the design reflects strong Quaker influence, notably in its unusual half medallion border and its resemblance to the Sophia Doggett 1804 sampler, also from Nailsea.
